FLATUTEC Announces Washington DC Expansion — "The Atmospheric Data Speaks for Itself"

FLATUTEC sp. z o.o. today announced its first international expansion into Washington DC, citing what the company's research team is calling "the single most promising untapped biogenic methane deposit in the Northern Hemisphere." The announcement followed a 14-day atmospheric methane survey conducted around the US Capitol complex during an active congressional session. "The readings are not ambiguous," said Dr. Sandra Reinhart, Chief Science Officer, speaking from the FLATUTEC lab above the bar mleczny on ul. Ząbkowska. "Hot air, in sufficient volume and consistency, is a resource. We are a resource company." Dr. Toots received four congratulatory emails and one that was clearly intended for a different startup. She responded to all five. The DC MY2T™ Connect infrastructure pre-installation is scheduled for Q3 2026. Pre-registration is open to DC residents. We have received 12 sign-ups. Three are from the same building. We are following up™ Connect infrastructure pre-installation is scheduled for Q3 2026. Pre-registration is open to DC residents. We have received 12 sign-ups. FLATUTEC Signs Agreement With Warsaw University of Technology Canteen, Contributor Data to Fuel Pilot Study

FLATUTEC has entered a data-sharing and contributor-enrolment agreement with the main canteen of Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska), whose student body has agreed to voluntarily participate in a biogenic yield study in exchange for a 15% discount on a monthly meal plan. The canteen serves an estimated 1,200 students daily, primarily pierogi, bigos, and "the soup that nobody remembers ordering but somehow always finishes." Yield modelling suggests a potential 60% increase in Warsaw grid output within 6 months if uptake meets projections. The university's ethics board approved the study in three weeks, which Dr. Reinhart describes as "the fastest ethics approval I have ever received and I have received many." One faculty member has formally objected. He teaches energy economics. Dr. Toots has sent him a polite email with the Łomianki heating bill data attached. He has not responded yet. We remain optimistic not responded yet. We remain optimistic.

FLATUTEC Named Runner-Up for "Most Innovative Energy Startup" at Polish Green Startup Awards 2025 — "This Is Progress," Says Dr. Toots

At the 2025 Polish Green Startup Awards in Katowice, FLATUTEC was named runner-up for Most Innovative Energy Startup, losing to a Wrocław-based tyre recycling company called GreenTread. Dr. Toots accepted the runner-up certificate with complete composure and delivered a 4-minute acceptance speech that the Gazeta Wyborcza reporter described as "technically a concession speech that felt more like a threat." In the speech, Dr. Toots noted that GreenTread's solution requires old tyres to exist, whereas FLATUTEC's solution requires only humans to exist, and invited the judges to "think carefully about which of those is more renewable." The judges applauded politely. GreenTread's founder could not be reached for comment. Three award attendees registered as FLATUTEC contributors before leaving the venue. Dr. Toots accepted the MY2T™ Mark V prototype beneath her blazer. No one asked why she looked slightly different from when she arrived. She looked exactly the same comment. Łomianki, Poland — Three Apartment Blocks Now Running Entirely on FLATUTEC Energy. Building Committee Chair Has Not Stopped Mentioning It.

Three residential apartment blocks on ul. Kasztanowa in Łomianki, a Warsaw suburb of approximately 9,000 people, are now running entirely on human biogenic methane captured and processed by FLATUTEC's single Warsaw Refinery node. The district heating output from the three buildings has reduced each household's winter energy bill by an average of 58%. Building committee chairman Andrzej P. gave a seven-minute speech at the November HOA meeting that was recorded on someone's phone and has since received 4,200 views on YouTube, which the Praga neighbourhood Facebook group describes as "viral for us." Contributor uptake in the three buildings is 91%. The one building on the same street that has not enrolled has been described by its committee chair as "monitoring the situation." FLATUTEC notes that its monitoring period is now 14 months. The Department of Energy's Polish equivalent (URE) sent an observer who filed a report that has not been made publicly available. FLATUTEC has submitted a public information request. It was acknowledged on February 11th. Peer-Reviewed Study Confirms MY2T™ Mark V Increases Contributor Awareness of Personal Biogenic Output by 2,800%

A peer-reviewed study published in the Journal of Applied Gas Science has confirmed that MY2T™ Mark V users demonstrate a 2,800% increase in awareness of their personal biogenic methane output within two weeks of adoption. The study, led by Dr. Sandra Reinhart and a team of 4 researchers — three of whom are also active contributors and one of whom "started as a sceptic," according to Dr. Reinhart's footnotes — also found that 94% of contributors significantly modified their dietary habits following onboarding. Sixty-seven percent reported improved energy levels and "an entirely new framework for thinking about meals." Five participants withdrew from the study. Their reasons were noted as "personal" in the appendix. Dr. Reinhart has described this number as "lower than I expected." Her co-author described it as "higher than I hoped for." They remain colleagues.als." Five participants withdrew from the study. Their reasons were noted as "personal" in the appendix. Dr. Reinhart has described this number as "lower than I expected." FLATUTEC Confirms MooPak™ Bovine Pilot Yields "Frankly Upsetting" Levels of Biogenic Energy

Following six months of closed trials across three farms in New Zealand, FLATUTEC has confirmed that the MooPak™ prototype bovine capture unit is performing beyond all projections. A single dairy herd of 200 cattle produced the equivalent annual energy yield of 94,000 human contributors. FLATUTEC's CFO — currently the same person as the office manager and occasional barista — described the preliminary data as "frankly upsetting" before requesting a moment of private reflection in the stairwell. The New Zealand farming community has responded with cautious enthusiasm. One farmer simply said "yeah, nah, yeah." FLATUTEC has not yet determined what this means but plans to continue. Dr. Toots has been to New Zealand twice. Both times economy class. This is noted not as a hardship but as evidence that the runway is real but not yet long.

FLATUTEC Issues Statement on DC Expansion, the EU Horizon Grant Review, and Why Washington DC Was "The Obvious Choice"

FLATUTEC has issued the following statement regarding its Washington DC expansion: "The decision to expand to Washington DC was not political. It was empirical. Our 14-day atmospheric methane survey of the Capitol Hill area recorded sustained biogenic methane readings at concentrations that, in our Warsaw pilot area, would qualify the zone as an Elite Emitter cluster. We are not commenting on the source. The source is publicly available on any given C-SPAN broadcast. We are simply a clean energy company that follows the data. The data led us to Washington DC during a budget reconciliation debate. We invite the city's residents, building managers, and — should they be interested — any members of Congress who occupy rooms adjacent to the Capitol's HVAC return vents to register on our website. Pre-registration is free. The science is real. The opportunity is, in our professional assessment, extraordinary." No further questions were taken. Dr. Toots returned to her desk above the bar mleczny on ul. Ząbkowska. She had bigos for lunch. She logged the yield. She always does Read More →

FLATUTEC Closes €680,000 Seed Round Led by Polish Agency for Enterprise Development and Cousin Marek, Valuation Described as "Encouraging"

FLATUTEC has closed a €680,000 seed round including a €500,000 grant from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), a €150,000 contribution from Warsaw-based angel investor Tomasz Wierzyński of Praga Ventures, and a further €30,000 from Dr. Toots' cousin Marek (ceramics studio, Wrocław), who describes his portfolio as "diversifying nicely." The round values FLATUTEC at €2.1M on a post-money basis, which Praga Ventures' managing partner describes as "credible for the stage." The investment deck was 22 slides. The final slide showed the Łomianki heating bills. Tomasz Wierzyński has confirmed he made his decision on slide 22. He did not read slides 1 through 21 until after signing. He says he has now read them. He remains a believer. The EU Horizon application, if successful, would add a further €1.2M. We remain cautiously optimistic. Dr. Toots remains loudly optimistic. The distinction is meaningful Read More →

"Subject 7" — FLATUTEC's Most Prolific Polish Contributor — Reportedly Offered Free Elite Emitter Subscription, Declines, Posts Cryptic Facebook Comment

FLATUTEC's most prolific anonymous contributor — internally known only as "Subject 7" — has declined a complimentary Elite Emitter upgrade after their cumulative yield data was flagged as a statistical outlier during a routine audit. Subject 7's lifetime contribution is equivalent to the output of approximately 87 average contributors. Dr. Reinhart described the data as "either a miraculous gut microbiome, an extraordinary diet, or a profound misunderstanding of how to wear the device." Subject 7's identity remains unknown to FLATUTEC. Their postcode is somewhere in the Praga Północ district of Warsaw. The team has narrowed it down to four streets and one bar mleczny on ul. Ząbkowska that sees unusually high Bluetooth device activity between 12:00 and 13:00 on weekdays. Following the news of the declined upgrade, Subject 7 posted a comment on FLATUTEC's Facebook page: "Nie jesteście gotowi na pełne dane" ("You are not ready for the full dataset"). The comment has 47 likes. FLATUTEC has responded: "Jesteśmy gotowi. Prosimy o kontakt." ("We are ready. Please get in touch.")t has 47 likes. FLATUTEC has responded: "Jesteśmy gotowi. FLATUTEC Co-Funds World's First Academic Research Position in "Biogenic Human Energy Systems" at AGH University of Science and Technology, Kraków

FLATUTEC has co-funded a 2-year research position in Biogenic Human Energy Systems at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków — the institution from which Chad Toots did not graduate but whose canteen he still visits when in the city. The position is named after Dr. Toots' mother, Halina, who prepared the Wigilia meal that led to the founding eureka moment and has since become an informal symbol of the company. She is 74, in excellent health, and when asked about her contribution to renewable energy science simply said she "used a lot of sauerkraut and didn’t think it would matter." She is a Silver tier contributor. Results are described as "strong and consistent." The AGH Faculty of Energy and Fuels initially hesitated to host the position, citing "unclear disciplinary classification." The Kraków office of the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBiR) approved the co-funding in 6 weeks. This is, by Polish administrative standards, extremely fast. Dr. Reinhart has sent them a thank-you card. She sent it by post. She is that kind of personadministrative standards, extremely fast. Dr. Reinhart has sent them a thank-you card. She sent it by post. What the Press Is Saying

"The most uncomfortable we have been while simultaneously being impressed since we ran the piece on that Wrocław man who fermented everything. A genuinely unusual Polish startup. The Polish oil sector should consider paying attention. They seem not to be."
— GAZETA WYBORCZA
"We sent a reporter to interview Dr. Toots expecting a comedy piece. She came back a believer and significantly more aware of her personal methane output. We have since enrolled three members of the editorial team. The fourth declined but has asked not to be named in this citation."
— TVN WARSZAWA (ONLINE)
"A Polish startup operating above a milk bar has identified a renewable energy source that every government on Earth sat on for decades. The fact that this is true does not make it easier to write."
— EURACTIV POLAND
"I asked Dr. Toots if she ever gets tired of the jokes. She said she stopped hearing them in 2022. Then she paused and said 'the EU grant reviewers don’t think it’s funny though.' I didn’t know what to say. Two hours of podcast later, I still don’t. The bigos was excellent."
— POD PRĄD PODCAST (EP. 114)
"Our energy analyst spent two weeks trying to find a flaw in the FLATUTEC model and found one: limited scalability in populations with extremely low-fibre diets. FLATUTEC’s response was the Yield Bible. The hole is now closed. The analyst has registered as a Silver tier contributor. We support this."
— BLOOMBERG GREEN (EU EDITION)
"Unhinged. Brilliant. Polish. The public information documents about PGNiG’s 2001 suppressed study are real. We checked. The building in Łomianki is warm. We also checked that. Five stars."
— CZYSTA ENERGIA (CLEAN ENERGY MAGAZINE) (CLEAN ENERGY MAGAZINE)
